About
Of Dutch nationality, Eric van Leuven has lived and worked in Portugal since 1982. In 1987, he founded George Knight Estate Agents in Lisbon. In 1991, Cushman & Wakefield (then Healey & Baker) acquired the commercial real estate arm of George Knight and appointed Eric as Managing Director of C&W Portugal.
Since then, he has built and led a team of more than 130 professionals across real estate consultancy and brokerage services.
As a member of Cushman & Wakefield’s European Board between 2005 and 2012, he also oversaw the company’s operations in Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Romania, and Greece.
After 35 years as CEO of C&W Portugal, he stepped down from the role in 2026, remaining with the company as Executive Partner, with a particular focus on client relationships and business development.
Affiliations
- In 2000, he was elected Fellow of RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) as a “professional of excellence,” in recognition of his contribution to the development of the commercial real estate market in Portugal.
- He has served as President of RICS Portugal, ACAI (Association of Real Estate Consultancy and Valuation Companies), and the Portugal–Netherlands Chamber of Commerce.
- He is currently Vice President of the Avenida da Liberdade Association and the charitable organization Associação Florinhas da Rua, as well as a member of the Executive Committee of ULI (Urban Land Institute) Portugal.
