Cushman & Wakefield is expanding its presence in the institutional residential investment market in Germany: Effective April 1, 2026, the global real estate advisory firm has appointed Jakob Cil to the newly created position of Head of Residential Investment Berlin & Region East at Cushman & Wakefield. Jakob Cil will be responsible for Berlin and the eastern German states. At the same time, Costas Dimitriu is joining Residential Investment Berlin, and in Hamburg, Sophie König is strengthening the Residential Investment team led by Oliver Spiewak.
Jan-Bastian Knod, Head of Residential Investment Germany at Cushman & Wakefield, comments on the appointment and the new Residential Investment Berlin & Region East unit:
“Cushman & Wakefield is thus continuing its ongoing nationwide and regional growth and expansion strategy in the residential investment sector. We can now address the residential investment markets in Berlin and Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia in an even more targeted manner. Especially during the boom phases of the past decades, Berlin and the popular cities of eastern Germany have proven to be particularly active locations in the residential investment market. Last year as well, transactions in the eastern German states and the capital were among the largest in terms of residential units and volume. With Jakob Cil, we are gaining a proven expert who will strengthen our investment business in Berlin and bring our clients closer to these dynamic markets.”
Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Jakob Cil served as Senior Transaction Manager in Berlin at the British investment and asset manager QSix since 2022. There, his responsibilities included building a residential portfolio of over 1,000 units in Berlin, Brandenburg, and Leipzig as part of a joint venture with an international private equity firm. Other career highlights for the M.Sc. in Urban and Regional Development include stints in the transaction departments of The Flag and International Campus, as well as at CBRE in the Capital Markets Residential Investment division.
