About
Paulo Sarmento is an International Partner and Head of Cushman & Wakefield in Portugal.
He leads a team of more than 130 professionals across real estate advisory and brokerage services, with a more direct involvement in investment services. Paulo has over 30 years of experience in both the national and international real estate markets, spanning development, investment, commercialization, and asset management. He has worked across multiple geographies and asset classes, including offices, retail, industrial & logistics, hospitality, living, and operational real estate.
Before joining Cushman & Wakefield, he held roles at Meyer Bergman in London, where he was responsible for acquisitions and real estate asset management for Southern Europe. He also worked at Multi Development as Commercial Director for Southern Europe and as Managing Director of the company’s offices in Italy and Brazil. Earlier in his career, he was at Sonae Sierra, where he was responsible for marketing and retail leasing.
Assignments
Some of Paulo’s major key achievements were:
- Led the brokerage of numerous investment and occupier real estate transactions in Portugal across all asset classes.
- Participated in the development and subsequent management of more than 25 retail or mixed-use real estate projects (including offices and/or residential), totaling over 1.1 million sqm of GLA.
- Was involved in or led the acquisition of more than 10 retail or mixed-use real estate projects, totaling over 260,000 sqm of GLA.
- Led the Italian and Brazilian subsidiaries of the largest European shopping center developer.
Education
MBA in Management from NOVA University of Lisbon.
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Psychology and Educational Sciences of Lisbon.
