The appearance and success of a precinct, and the outcomes it delivers to users and occupiers, depend on its type and the intangible challenges it faces during formation and maturity. These forces, including how precincts function and retain relevance over time, are critical to their long-term success. But how well do we really understand these forces that shape precinct development and the key attributes that determine their success?
Through Cushman & Wakefield’s Inclusive Cities Barometer, we use a performance-based framework to assess cities with a strong focus on social impact and inclusiveness. With this lens, this report on “Precincts” evaluates the settings and features that enable precincts to fulfill their vision and maximize their contribution to the greater good. In doing so, ensuring that precincts deliver economic, social, spatial, and environmental benefits, becoming vital parts of the broader urban ecosystem.
