A local developer has purchased two premium development sites in Williamstown in Melbourne’s south west from a private developer for a combined $4.7 million.
The sites at 2 Aitken Street and 16-34 Kanowna Street were sold in one line as The Williamstown Collection, attracting strong interest from developers drawn to the two sites’ location, permit status and future development potential.
The 949 sqm site at 2 Aitken Street was sold with an approved permit for eight architecturally designed, three-level townhouses. The 934 sqm corner site at 16-34 Kanowna Street offered a range of potential development options, including concepts for townhouses and apartments, as well as opportunities for childcare and mixed-use development, subject to council approval.
Sold exclusively through Cushman & Wakefield’s Hamish Burgess and Joe Kairouz, the transaction reflects continued demand for development opportunities in established Melbourne suburbs with strong amenity, connectivity and proven demand for new residential stock.
Hamish Burgess, Director, Development Sites at Cushman & Wakefield, said the campaign attracted strong interest from a diverse buyer pool, with clear development pathways across the two sites proving a key drawcard.
“The result further highlights the strength of demand for townhouse development opportunities across Melbourne’s middle-ring suburbs” he said.
Joe Kairouz, Director, Development Sites at Cushman & Wakefield, said the sale reflected continued confidence in Melbourne’s residential development market.
“Developers remain highly active in 2026, particularly in Melbourne’s affluent residential locations where available development land is limited and sites offering flexibility are difficult to secure.
Positioned in Williamstown’s waterfront precinct, both sites benefit from proximity to the foreshore, coastal parklands, established retail and hospitality amenity, and Williamstown Train Station, which is within 500 metres of the properties.
